Notes
:
This species is characterized by its somewhat robust habit; its medium-sized, stiff-textured, rather narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate leaves with the apex obtuse; its pedunculate, branched but rather congested, several-flowered inflorescences; its susessile flowers with a rather well developed, lobed calyx limb; its white to pink corollas with the tube ca. 4 cm long and the buds obtuse to rounded; and its rather large fruits. It is similar to several Ixora species that are as yet undescribed; Ixora trichocalyx is circumscribed narrowly here pending clarification of the limits of those other species.
