N. Rakotonirina & R. Ramananjanahary: The specimens on tropicos collected by RAKOTOMALAZA 1444 from Ivohibe RS are in need to be verified.
CMT VIII 2011: This species is characterized by its medium-sized to rather small leaves without domatia, rather short peduncles, and rather small infructescences. It is apparently rare. It is similar to Breonia lowryi, which has the calyx limb glabrous inside and 7-9 ovules per locule, vs. pubescent and 1, respectively, in Breonia louvelii. Breonia louvelii is also similar to Breonia chinensis, which has 2-5 ovules per locule.
