Notes: This is a widespread species found from Asia to East Africa, and it is likely be present in Madagascar; however no correctly identified material has yet been seen to confirm its presence here by CMT (IV 2013). This name was treated in the Flora of Tropical East Africa as a synonym under the name Spermacoce hispida L., and these names have been variously applied to the same or different species and variously synonymized over the last century with the situation currently far from clear.
