general taxon notes:
This species is very distinctive among Aerobryopsis species by the acute branch leaf apices.

2. Aerobryopsis cochlearifolia Dixon   异叶灰气藓   yi ye hui qi xian
Ann. Bryol. 9: 65. 1937. Type: Laos. Pu Muten, Kerr 491.
 
Primary stems filiform, not complanately foliate; secondary stems irregularly branched with branches 1–2 cm long, 3–4 mm wide with leaves, complanately foliate, obtuse at the apex. Stem leaves loosely appressed, broadly cordate at the base, ca. 2.0 mm × ca. 1.1 mm, abruptly narrowed to a slender apex; margins serrulate; costae single, ending below the leaf apex; median leaf cells shortly rhomboidal, 10–15 µm × 5–6 µm, centrally unipapillose; upper cells elongate, smooth; basal cells yellow, rectangular, thick-walled, somewhat porose; alar cells small, quadrate; branch leaves oblong-ovate, concave, deeply plicate, rugose above, acute at the apex; upper margins undulate, serrulate; median leaf cells slightly shorter than those of stem leaves. Sporophytes not seen.
