general taxon notes:
Rhynchostegium pallenticaule is very similar to R. pallidifolium in several aspects, such as the length of median leaf cells, the serration of leaf margins, and the shapes of basal leaf cells, but differs by its leaf shapes. In R. pallenticaule, the leaves are oblong-lanceolate (1.2–1.9 mm × 0.6–0.7 mm) with slender acuminate apices; while in R. pallidifolium, the leaves are broadly ovate (2.2–3.2 mm × 1.1–1.2 mm) with shortly acuminate apices.
