Note
|
Ceratophyllum includes 1-10 species depending on circumscription. All plants are quite similar in being dissected, branching submerged aquatics with minute axillary flowers. The genus occurs in fresh waters in most parts of the world, and is food for wild fowl and other fauna. The masses of intricate leaves and stems also provide hiding places for many small animals, including mosquito larvae.
