Notes
:
This species is characterized by rather small leaves that are generally oblanceolate, a brown drying color, and axillary cymose inflorescences borne at nodes below the stem apex. It is similar to Psychotria paradoxalis and Psychotria glaucifolia, and apparently not separated from these by reproductive characters and perhaps not distinct; these are arbitrarily separated here based on leaf form and inflorescence position. There may be more than one species included here, but the available material is not adequate to resolve this. As circumscribed here, this includes Psychotria sp. 5 of Gautier (2002; Gautier 2808).
