Notes
:
This species is characterized by rather small leaves that are generally elliptic, a green to greenish brown drying color, and axillary cymose inflorescences borne at nodes below the stem apex. It is similar to Psychotria paradoxalis and Psychotria oreotrephes, and apparently not separated from these by reproductive characters and perhaps not distinct; these are arbitrarily separated here based on leaf form and inflorescence position. Bremekamp originally separated Psychotria glaucifolia in part by its inflorescences that are always borne below the stem apex, but isotype specimens at K have terminal inflorescences developed on some stems, in addition to axillary inflorescences. As circumscribed here this name may be applied to more than one species.
