Notes
:
This species is characterized by its sessile to shortly petiolate, elliptic to obovate-oblong leaves with well marked secondary venation, the apex rounded to truncate, and the base also rounded to truncate; its pedunculate cymose inflorescences with the flowers separated from each other, if not actually pedicellate; its somewhat large white corollas; and its somewhat small fruits that become white then blue. It is so far known form a few collections in northern Madagascar. Psychotria andriantiana is similar to Psychotria imerinensis, which differs in its leaves that are acute at the base and have short to well developed petioles, its shorter yellow corollas, and its red fruits; Psychotria imerinensis is much more commonly collected, including in the Marojejy massif where both species occur.
