Notes
:
This species is characterized by its low, suffrutescent habit; its bilobed hirtellous stipules; its oblanceolate leaves that do not have domatia; its pedunculate, several-flowered, corymbiform inflorescences; and its flowers that are subsessile but separated from each other (pedicels 0.3-0.7 mm long). Bremekamp classified this in his circumscription of Mapouria, which was diagnosed by pyrene and seed characters, but did not see the fruits of Psychotria decumbens. This species is apparently known only from the type, and is not well characterized; this name may apply to a reduce plant of another Psychotria species, but more material will need to be studied to confirm this or any other identity for this name.
