Notes
:
This species was characterized by Bremekamp by generally puberulous to glabrescent habit; its medium-sized, oblanceolate to obovate, rather thin-textured leaves with domatia and obtuse to rather rounded, often very shortly acuminate apices; its bilobed stipules that are hirtellous abaxially; its pedunculate, several-flowered, corymbiform inflorescences; and its subsessile small flowers with a rather well developed calyx limb and rather short yellow corolla. Bremekamp classified this species in his circumscription of Mapouria, which was diagnosed by pyrene and seed characters, even though he did not see the fruits of Psychotria manambololoensis. This species was described based on three collections, two of them from the same area, and is not well characterized. More material, including fruits, will be necessary to fully clarify its identity.
