Notes
:
This species is characterized by its elliptic, leathery, acuminate leaves that are often bullate and/or have revolute margins, its terminal corymbiform to broadly pyramidal inflorescences, its small pedicellate flwoers with orange corollas, and its subglobose to oblate fruits that are ca. 5 x 6-7 mm. Bremekamp classified this species in Mapouria without seeing the fruits; these have now been documented (Ravelonarivo et al. 163), and do support Bremekamp's classification of this species. This species is locally common around the type region.
